A few years ago, before starting this blog, I jumped on the tile coaster bandwagon. Those coasters had been well loved and were starting to look a little (or a lot) worse for wear so I decided to make some new ones that matched the living room.
Modge Podge and brush
Scrapbook paper and scissors/paper slicer
Step 1: Cut the paper to size. I made mine ½ inch smaller than the tile so that when I centered it, there was a quarter inch boarder all the way around.
Step 2: Coat the tile in Modge Podge and place the paper on top, rubbing out all air bubbles. Let dry.
Step 3: Once the first coat of Modge Podge is completely dry, coat the tile and paper in Modge Podge. This time you’ll be coating the top of the paper. Let dry.
Step 4: Be sure the Modge Podge is completely dry, then stray with an acrylic sealant. Mine is a no name brand from Walmart. Let dry, and then do a second coat.
Step 5: Place felt pads on the four corners so the coasters don’t scratch your table.
I seriously love these coasters. They protect the furniture, look cute, and match my décor (except the purple which I love anyway). Also, J and I tend to use really big mugs and cups which don’t fit on regular coasters but these are the perfect size.
