Manual and Warranty Organization

Since I’ve been home I’ve been trying to clean up and get organized. With that said, we’ve been having temperatures in the high 30s every day (that’s around 100 Fahrenheit) and we don’t have air conditioning so I’m trying to find things that don’t require much physical exertion. One of the things I’ve been doing is going through all the manuals and warranties that came with shower presents, mailing what needs to be sent to manufacturers and putting away the rest.

I decided I would show you my simple way of keeping these manuals and warranties organized. They all go in a 3-inch binder that gets stored above the fridge in the shelf that’s too high for me to use on a regular basis.

In the front of the binder I keep some post-it notes and some extra page protectors. That way I never have to look for them when I need them.

I’ve used paper dividers to separate our house by rooms. The categories I currently have are living room, kitchen, bedrooms, basement and other.

For each item I use a page protector. I put the receipt in front and include any manuals, warranties, and other paperwork that came with the item. For quick reference, I put the date the warranty expires on a post-it and stick it to the page.

I also keep boxes for any items that are under warranty. Because we have an unfinished basement we have lots of room so they just sit in a stack out of the way. I attach a post-it to each box so I know when the warranty expires and once it has expired I throw the box out.

Like I said, it’s simple but it works for me.

  1. I'm working on making one myself! Think I'll do like you and use page protectors, that really is the best way.

  2. This is such a great idea. Sadly, I never take the time to put my stuff in one place, and run around like a crazy woman when I need something. Maybe, just maybe I can manage this one ;)

P.S. Pretty please, turn off word verification; people often won't leave a comment if they have to jump through hoops to do so .

  3. This is really cool! I have everything filed alphabetically but if I didn't have the file, I would so do this! Thanks for linking up to Cure for the Common Monday!

  4. I just finished doing this and hated all the bulk. I pulled out all the Spanish and French instructions that were in the back of all the books. :) Having it all in a binder has helped keep all the receipts, book and such together!

  5. Great way to organize all your manuals and warranties!! And, perfect place to store the cabinet none of us can reach. LOL... Thanks for sharing at Throwback Thursday.

  6. This is such a good idea, definitely something I will wish I'd done one day if I don't just do it!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I love to hear from you and look forward to responding to your comments (unless you're a no-reply blogger).
